AI service · Design sprint
Shelter UK
A five-day design sprint exploring how digital tools could help renters recognise and challenge discrimination in the housing market.

My role
Design Sprint Facilitator · Product Designer · Prototyping and user testing
The project
At Shelter UK, I facilitated a five-day design sprint with a cross-functional team spanning marketing, content and legal. I planned and led the process from expert interviews and ideation through to decision-making, prototyping and user testing.

The problem
The sprint focused on rental listings that excluded people receiving housing benefit. The aim was to help renters recognise discriminatory language, understand their options and take practical action, while accounting for the legal and emotional complexity of the situation.

Days 1 & 2 , framing and ideas
We began by bringing subject-matter experts into the room, mapping the problem and agreeing on a clear sprint goal. The second day moved into individual ideation, structured sketching and solution concepts, helping every discipline contribute before the team converged.

Day 3 , decisions and storyboards
The team evaluated the concepts against the sprint goal and selected the strongest direction to test. We then translated it into a detailed storyboard that aligned the group around the proposed end-to-end experience.

Days 4 & 5 , prototype and testing
I turned the storyboard into a realistic prototype and developed a lightweight visual direction, while the content team refined the language and recruited participants. We tested the concept with users on the final day, capturing evidence to guide the next iteration.
